The annual pilgrimage is held every year on the last Saturday of April at the northwest corner of the former camp site, near the cemetery monument.
The Manzanar National Historic site is approximately 210 miles north of Los Angeles, along Highway 395 and takes approximately 4 1/2 hours driving time.
Manzanar is located between Lone Pine and Independence. It is on the west side of Highway 395, approximately 9 miles north of Lone Pine on your left. You will notice two stone houses.

Tune your radio to AM 1610 as you near Manzanar National Historic Site. Listen to current information about Interpretive Center hours, special events, and other timely information.

Eastern California Museum - Located five miles north of Manzanar in Independence, California; the museum contains a significant collection of photos, drawings, paintings, and artifacts associated with Manzanar. The Museum is open daily from 10:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., and is closed Tuesdays and Holidays. Their website is: http://inyocounty.us/ecmuseum/ecmdhome.htm
Dress
Wear comfortable walking shoes, layers of clothing for weather changes. Bring sunscreen, a hat and sunglasses. Dust and high winds are possible. The altitude is 3,500-4,000 feet above sea level. Sanitized toilets will be on site. Water will be available during the pilgrimage. Pack a lunch, as there is no food service at the site. Restaurants are available in Lone Pine, Independence, and Bishop.
